New Neighborhood Watch Group
Neighbors are banding together to form a Neighborhood Watch in Castroville. The program organizes neighborhoods to watch out for each other’s property and well-being.
A general information meeting was held on June 21 at North County Christian Center, 11299 Poole Street, where representatives from the Monterey Sheriff’s Department made a presentation about the importance of the Neighborhood Watch program. They reported that the formation of a Neighborhood Watch could be a significant aid in the suppression of criminal activity.
A second meeting was held on July 12 at which approximately 20 neighbors living in proximity to North County Christian Center met to take the first steps toward forming a watch in their particular area.
The next Neighborhood Watch meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 9 from 7-8 p.m. at North County Christian Center. At the meeting neighbors plan to brainstorm the specific structure, priorities, and elements of their local Watch.
Anyone interested in participating in a Castroville Neighborhood Watch or in finding out more about the program is welcome to attend. For more information call Pastor Rich Coffelt of North County Christian Center at 633-3416.
